Tax Filing Deadlines in Singapore Extended by IRAS
Tax filing deadlines in Singapore have been extended for both businesses and individuals, with more time allocated to file taxes.
In light of the stricter safety measures being implemented in Singapore from 7 April to 4 May 2020 to slow down the spread of COVID-19, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) has granted automatic extensions of tax filing deadlines to both businesses and individuals.
Deadlines Extended and Appointment-Only Taxpayer Counter Services Available
Taxpayer counter services remain available for taxpayers who need assistance with their tax filing. This is only by appointment and must be made a minimum of 2 working days before visiting the service centre.
In Singapore, there are tax filing deadlines which originally fall in April. However, given the current circumstances, such deadlines have now been extended until 31 May 2020. This deadline extension is applicable for taxes by individuals (including sole proprietors and partnerships), trusts, associations and clubs. This 31 May deadline also applies to companies whose financial year ends in January 2020 for submitting their Estimated Chargeable Income.
GST deadlines have been extended until 11 May for accounting periods between January to March 2020. S45 withholding tax forms due for filing in April are given a one-month extension until 15 May. Businesses which require to file foreign employee tax clearances in April are also given a one-month extension.
All taxpayers are encouraged to use the live chat function for any enquiries. Alternatively, you may reach out to IRAS via phone, email or the myTax portal. More details are available on IRAS’ website.
