CorpPass to Replace EASY in Singapore by 1 September 2018
From 1 September 2018, CorpPass will be replacing EASY as the new authorization system. All businesses will be required to use CorpPass as of the next Q3 for any transactions completed with IRAS (Inland Revenue Authority Singapore).
This new system will also be used to authorize any third party or staff access to IRAS’s online e-Services, although the implementation date of CorpPass for these e-Services will be announced later on.
What Is EASY?
EASY (e-Services Authorization System) is a system which lets organizations and businesses authorize their staff or any relevant third parties to access IRAS’s Government-to-Business (G2B) digital services on their behalf.
EASY will have limited functionality during the transition to CorpPass, and some easy functions will be limited to only allowing deletion of existing authorization records of staff and third party access to other government digital services which rely on EASY.
This limited functionality that is going to be experienced by users of EASY does not apply to IRAS’ digital services and Jobs Bank Employer e-Services. This transition was already taking place with effect from 13 September 2017.
What Is CorpPass?
CorpPass is a corporate digital identity for businesses, and from 1 September 2018, it is going to be the only login method required for online corporate transaction with IRAS to take place. No transactions will be allowed without it.
All businesses and organizations will need to be authorized by CorpPass before they can attempt to login online and gain access to IRAS’ digital services.
Using CorpPass
All users who are representing either a business, or a GST-registered company or partnership will need to first identify what their CorpPass role is before they can transact with IRAS.
CorpPass roles are divided into 3 types:
- CorpPass User: CorpPass Users will login using their CorpPass to transact for their business entity. There is no limit to the number of CorpPass users per entity.
- CorpPass Admin: CorpPass Admins start the CorpPass registration process for their entity, and also help to manage the entity’s CorpPass account. This is limited to a maximum of 2 Admin Accounts per entity.
- Registered Officer: This is a person(s) who is registered with an entity’s UEN (Unique Identification Number). Examples of Registered Officers include Sole Proprietors, Partners, Directors and Corporate Secretaries.
Once you have identified your CorpPass role, you will then register for a CorpPass Admin account for your business, create a CorpPass User Account, Assign the IRAS Digital Services to the CorpPass Admin or user and manage Tax Agents or Third Party Entities.
More information regarding using CorpPass is available on IRAS’s website.
